I AM CURIOUS...

If you go to the VERY bottom of my postings--there is a survey I have concocted because...

well, because I COULD! --

while freshening up my page look--I noticed I could add page elements--and this looked kind of fun--but I didn't know it would be on the very bottom--

A Ferry Nice Day

THE OTHER DAY--Mae and I were driving around--seeing the sites :-) and we planned to take the little ferry across the Wicomico river to go to Foggy Bottom--a shop of neat stuff--It was about 1:20 pm and the ferry had no line--but wait ...the ferry was closed--Aha! I have the ferry information number in my phone--since last year--"Ferry is closed due to high tides--2 hour delay"

So we drive all the way around---beautiful day for a drive!

THE VERY NEXT DAY--5 pm--as I leave work in Fruitland I think--I am sure if I take the ferry--I'll only be 5 minutes later getting home--(the ferry is in the opposite direction of my usual route--which is to go through town and around in lots of traffic!!) Beautiful day--quite breezy but just lovely-- Get to the ferry--NO CARS--This is great!...but wait...the ferry is closed !!!??? You couldn't have high tide at 1:30 one day and at 5 the next ? I call the number--(are you wondering why I don't call this number BEFORE I drive all the way to the ferry?? I was!)

Ferry closed due to high winds. The water was rough and even the ditches on the side of the road leading up were full of water--Made for a nervous 3 point turn to go all the way back and around to my usual route home--

This past Tuesday I thought as I left work--it is a beautiful day--I'll try the ferry--I'm no dummy--I called the ferry number first! (Gomer Pyle always said--Fool me once--shame on you--fool me twice--shame on me!--well--it took me 3 times to learn the lesson)

a long wait behind a dozen cars(the ferry holds 3 at a time) That's okay--something about being out on the water for just a minute or two--being carried along under blue skies--windows open--just a lovely place to be.
